The habits behind a tidy fit
Most visible mistakes with extensions come down to placement. Where each piece sits, and how the hair above it is sectioned, decides whether the result looks like natural hair.
Fitters divide the hair into neat horizontal rows and clip the upper hair out of the way. Straight, even partings make each row easier to cover and easier to remove later.
Placement near the front and the nape needs extra care. The hair there is finer, and pieces that sit too close can show or pull.
Extensions fitted too tight to the scalp are uncomfortable and can strain the hair. Good placement leaves room for natural growth.
Before the client leaves, a careful fitter looks from the front, back and both sides, then lifts the hair to check the rows.
Sectioning is practised slowly and repeated many times. If you are looking at a Birmingham course, ask how much supervised practice you will get on it.
